Cats Take 2023 Last Man Standing Championship With Authority
August 6th, 2023
On the rarest of clear, sunny days in 2023, the Catamounts reigned supreme and routed the Spa City Stallions 13-3 to take home the 2023 Last Man Standing Championship on Robison Field at RPI. After dispensing with the Upper Deck Titans and the SORENSCO Falcons squads in dominant fashion on Saturday evening, the Cats faced a three game road to the championship the following day. After wrapping up pool play Sunday morning, the cats travelled to RPI and began their precision dismantling of two very strong teams. The semi-final game saw a heavy-hitting NC Bison team that put our pitching and defense to the test. With strong innings by Eli Davis and Andrew Nunziata and everyone digging deep and trusting each other, the Cats finished them off with an 8-6 victory and a date with a very strong (and familiar) Spa City Stallions team. In the championship game, Henry Dorman delivered the gutsiest outing of the year as he went the distance on the mound. The Catamounts traded leads for the first three innings before exploding in the 5th for 4 runs and again in the 6th for another 6 runs. The Cats lit up the Stallions for 13 runs on 15 hits to take home the championship.
